ene Jules Lalique is the founder of the famous Lalique House and one of the prominent artists of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco Èpoque. Born in Marne, France on April 6 1860, Lalique started working at the early age of 16 for a Parisian silversmith. By age 30, he became one of the countries leading jewellery designers. He was a well-known glass designer who is reputed for his stunning creation of glassware such as perfume bottles, vases, jewellery, chandeliers, clocks as well as automobile hood ornaments. Considered as the master goldsmith of the Art Nouveau era, Lalique produced one of the most exquisite pieces of glass and jewellery. During the 1920s, Lalique designed and mass produced high quality glass jewellery. He created designs for more than 200 decorative vases and 150 bowls, as well as over 250 perfume bottles for Coty, Worth and several French perfume makers. The Rene Lalique collection of works is considered to be unique owing to it's quality of glass and jewellery. Some of the most popular Art Deco images created by Lalique includes the female face and form, immortalised in pressed and mold-blown glass such as vases, perfume bottles and bowls. The Lalique jewellery, Lalique Perfume, Lalique glass, and Lalique crystal are some of the most sought after collectible pieces today.
